Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. In Finland, IOM facilitates migrants’ integration, promotes development cooperation, assists victims of trafficking, and engages in refugee resettlement and migrants’ voluntary returns. IOM Finland’s operations cover Finland, Sweden and Iceland.

Workshop on human trafficking with leading expert on 21 and 23 August
Helsinki – On August 23 the Embassy of the United States of America and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are organizing a workshop with leading US expert Ms. Hanni Stoklosa.
The workshop is called Healthcare and Human Trafficking: A Doctor‘s Perspective. Ms. Stoklosa will be facilitating and focusing on the impact of exploitation on health and mental wellbeing of victims of trafficking as well as on special consideration in providing trauma-informed care for victims of trafficking. In addition, case examples will be examined and discussed.
She is a Co-Founder of HEAL Trafficking and an emergency physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital with appointments at Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.
The workshop in English will be held on 23 August 2018 at 10.00-15.00 at THL (the National Institute for Health and Welfare) at Mannerheimintie 166, Helsinki. There is also a chance for online participation!
